Should I use phantom power with my OKM?
Only when used in conjunction with the PPA. Using phantom power directly with your OKM may damage it. ONLY POWER YOUR OKM WITH THE A3 ADAPTER, THE PPA, OR PLUG-IN POWER ON THE MIC INPUT OF YOUR RECORDING DEVICE !
Can I monitor my recording through the OKM headset?
No. The OKM headset is for recording only.
Do I need to put the mics in my ears in order to record?
No. You can put the mics wherever you want. However, for the most accurate binaural effect, you will want to use them in your ears.
How much does the microphone headset and A3 adapter weigh?
The microphone headset weighs 0.4 oz, and the A3 adapter weighs 1.1 oz
Do I really need to buy an OKM equipped with the A3 adapter?
We've found that using the A3 adapter yields a "hotter" signal thus producing a better recording. This is certainly more noticable when using recorders with little or no pre-amp capabilities. We hear this mostly with MD recorders.
Where does the A3 adapter get its power?
The A3 uses a 6v battery. Two batteries are included, but if you need to buy more you can find them at Radio Shack. We've even seen them sold in hardware stores and drugstores.
Can I use an OKM with my recorder that has XLR inputs?
Yes. The Microphone has an 1/8 stereo plug, but we do make an adapter for use with XLR connections.
